Principal Engineer with deep expertise in Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE)

Job Overview:

We are looking for a highly skilled Principal Engineer with deep expertise in Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to join our team. The ideal candidate will lead the migration of workloads from legacy environments to modern cloud-native infrastructure on GCP, while ensuring performance optimization, robust security, and reliable CI/CD implementation.


Key Responsibilities:

Responsibility Details
Lead Migration Manage migration of workloads from the existing vendor to Clients’ GCP and Kubernetes setup.
Kubernetes Cluster Management Design, configure, and manage four Kubernetes clusters (1 non-production, 2 production, 1 DR).
Performance Optimization Optimize Kubernetes workloads for scalability, cost-efficiency, and performance.
Security & Compliance Implement IAM policies, access control mechanisms, and cloud security best practices.
CI/CD Pipeline Setup Assist in configuring automated deployment pipelines using CI/CD tools.
Technical Troubleshooting Support cloud-native applications and resolve infrastructure-related issues.
Collaboration & Documentation Work closely with teams to ensure smooth transition and documentation of best practices.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

Skill Area Details
Kubernetes & GKE Deep knowledge of GKE and container orchestration.
Cloud Networking & IAM Experience with GCP networking, IAM policies, and firewall configurations.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Proficiency in Terraform, Helm, and Kubernetes API.
Monitoring & Logging Hands-on experience with Prometheus, Stackdriver, and centralized logging tools.
Security Best Practices Strong understanding of RBAC and cloud security principles.
Automation & Scripting Proficiency in Bash, Python, or Golang for automation.
CI/CD Implementation Experience with Jenkins, GitLab CI, ArgoCD for Kubernetes deployments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • GCP Professional Cloud Architect or Kubernetes Administrator Certification.

  • Experience in high-availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) planning.

  • Strong communication skills for stakeholder alignment and technical documentation.
